A circuit court in Kumasi has cleared delegates of the Asokwa Constituency to vote in tomorrow’s primaries to elect a flag-bearer for the NPP. An action was brought against delegates from the constituency by former polling station executive of the party, who claimed that the process of selecting the delegates was flawed. They argued that the Member of Parliament of the Constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, manipulated the selection process of the delegates for his parochial interest. But the court, presided over by Justice Ginae questioned the timing of the suit given that the NPP goes to congress Saturday, August 7, 2010. After the ruling, the delegates who had been cleared to vote in tomorrow’s elections told Joy News they were excited because they could vote for their preferred candidate. Mr Jumah accused the plaintiffs of mischief saying such actions didn’t foster good relationship amongst party members.
