The Accra Circuit Court Six has granted a trader bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety for allegedly stabbing a man with a broken bottle.
Kwabena Owusu, 36, denied causing harm to Mr Kwasi Boateng and is expected to reappear before the court on April 16, 2026.
Police Chief Inspector Belinda Asante, prosecuting, said the complainant, Mr Boateng, was a resident of Kasoa, while Owusu, the accused person, who claimed to be a trader, was a squatter at the Kantamanto Market.
She said on February 19, 2026, at about 1830 hours, the complainant rushed to the police station with multiple deep cuts and blood oozing from the wounds, reporting that Owusu had harmed him with a broken bottle.
Chief Inspector Asante said the complainant was issued a medical form to attend the hospital for treatment.
She said the accused was later arrested after the complainant returned from the hospital with the medical form duly endorsed.
Prosecution told the court that the accused, in his caution statement to the police, admitted committing the offence.
After investigations, the accused was charged with causing harm contrary to Section 69 of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29).
