A circuit court in Goaso presided over by Mr. Osei Kwame Gyamfi, has sentenced two farm labourers to three years imprisonment each for stealing three sealed bags of cocoa worth GHC600.
Tanko Ali, 27 and Kwaku Solomon, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Presenting the facts of the case in court, Police Inspector Stephen Frimpong said the complainant; Mr Richard Oteng, was a cocoa depot keeper of Akuafo Adamfo Company Limited at Gambia Number two in Asutifi District of Brong-Ahafo Region, whilst the convicts were farm labourers residing at Gambia Number One in the same district.
He said on November 26 this year, Mr Obeng loaded sealed cocoa bags into an articulator truck bound for Tema but the driver could not set off that evening because it was late in the day.
The prosecutor said the convicts that night stole three bags of the cocoa from the truck.
They came back that night to steal an additional one bag but luck eluded them as some residents who saw them raised the alarm and were immediately arrested.
Police Inspector Frimpong said the three bags of cocoa were retrieved from them.
