A Sekondi District Magistrate Court on Thursday sentenced Thomas Anumel, a truck driver, to 14 days imprisonment in hard labour for driving under the influence of alcohol and using vehicle with worn out tyres.
The convict pleaded guilty.
Police Chief Inspector Eben Darko told the court that on February 22 Anumel was stopped for a check by personnel of the Western Regional Motor Transport Traffic Unit (MTTU) at Apremdo.
It was detected that all six tyres of the car were worn out and a test on the alcometer showed the driver was high on alcohol.Source: GNA
