A Sekondi district magistrate’s court on Tuesday sentenced Egya Mensah, an unemployed, to 15 months imprisonment in hard labour for conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and causing unlawful damage.
The accused pleaded guilty to all charges.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Godwin Bawa, said on March 3 this year, the accused and his accomplice, Ebenezer Essilfie, who is on the run, went to the houses of Bernard Awortwi, a driver, and Emmanuel Koomson, a teacher at Upper Inchaban, suburbs of Sekondi, and caused damage to their doors and windows in an attempt to steal.
He said Mensah and Essilfie took to their heels when some witnesses in the case saw them.
Sergeant Bawa said the witnesses informed Awortwi and Koomson when they returned home from work and the Police were informed about the incident.
He said the witnesses arrested Mensah the following day and he admitted the offence and during interrogations mentioned Essilfie as his accomplice.
