An Accra Circuit Court has adjourned a case involving a 30-year-old sign writer alleged to have butchered his wife and two sons.
The man, Samuel Homadi, was reported to have gone on the rampage after a quarrel with his wife, Veronica Kwao, at Koleman, near Medie in the Greater Accra Region.
The Amasaman Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Kwadwo Asante told Joy News’ Beatrice Aidoo that Homadi started “behaving abnormally” when he appeared in court on June 14.
The court presided over by Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour, therefore ordered the Police to refer the accused to the Chief Psychiatrist for examination.
“The moment he saw the crowd, he asked whether it was time for voting and he was coming to vote, they should give him his voters ID card,” Supt. Asante said.
He is to reappear on July 15.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Peter Benneh said Veronica, a trader, and Homadi, who lived under the same roof with her, had a quarrel over house-keeping money on June 8 where he used a cutlass to slash her and the two children.
Veronica who was badly hurt was sent to the Amasaman Government Hospital for medical attention.
