A Tarkwa Circuit Court on Thursday remanded a 45 year-old woman, Ama Kyerewaa into prison custody for allegedly possessing quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa without authority.
Her plea was not taken and she would re-appear on January 19.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr Justice Obeng Asante that the complainant is a policeman at Aboso while the accused is a farmer residing at Wassa Esikumah.
He said at about 6.00 am on December 25, police personnel from Aboso including the complainant went to Wassa Esikumah to investigate a stealing case involving a single barrel gun, which was allegedly given to the accused.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said during the search of the room of the accused 51 compressed slabs and 17 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in an old trunk placed in a dilapidated room in the house.
He said when Kyerewaa was interrogated, she admitted ownership of the Indian hemp and mentioned one Anas of the Tarkwa Railway station as her source of supply.
The Prosecutor said the Police are making efforts to arrest Anas whilst the exhibit would be forwarded to the Police Forensic Laboratory for examination.
