The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go to congress next Monday to elect a new executive.
The date was fixed immediately after a High Court in Kumasi lifted an injunction against the congress.
The Asante Akim constituency chairman of the NPP, Nana Adu Asabere, filed for the injunction, insisting that regional congress could not take place until all constituencies in the region had elected their executives.
But on Thursday, Nana Asabere filed a notice at the High Court that he is no longer interested in pursuing the case.
National chairman of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu tells Joy News he’s happy with the latest development.
He said he has been served a notice from the court indicating Mr Asabere’s intention.
“So we have no case now,” the NPP chairman said, adding, that the NPP’s rank and file should learn a lot from the legal wrangling which has just been resolved in the Ashanti Region.
“Members of the party must abide by the constitution and the leadership of the party needs to stand by the party and its constitution because many of the cases that went to court, the applicants felt that they were being cheated , one way or the other…and that the party machinery at the region did not take care of their demands,” he indicated.
