Eight more persons have succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country's fight against the virus.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update, revealed that as of August 20, the death toll stood at 982.
This is against 974 deaths recorded as of August 19.
According to the GHS, 6,850 active cases were recorded in all sixteen regions. Thirty-four of these cases are severe while 20 others who fell prey to the virus are in critical condition.

Also, 423 new cases were recorded, bringing the total confirmed cases to 115,525.
Meanwhile, a total of 107,693 persons have recovered, thus have been discharged. At the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) alone, 2,399 out of 2,575 returnees who tested positive have recovered.
The Greater Accra Region remains the largest hotspot for contracting the virus. The region has recorded 4,335 active cases.
