A member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Richmond Kilson, has launched a scathing attack on the two Nkrumahist parties for not leaving up to expectation.According to Kilson, instead of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC) putting their acts together and improving upon their dwindling electoral fortunes, they are busy fighting themselves.“Parties which had 1.3 and 0 percent (in the 2008 elections) are craving to other political manipulations. It is a shame to be in PNC or CPP” he added.Richmond Kilson’s outburst is on the premise of the never ending bickering in the two parties ahead of the 2012 elections. The PNC is experiencing a long legal tussle between factions within the party which is yet to be resolved. Some leading members of the PNC have threatened to seek a court injunction against the November 25th national delegates congress. The members argue that the party’s National Executives did not follow the laid down constitutional procedures which demands the setting up of a standing committee, an interim constituency management executive and a proper membership registration list for the congress. The CPP on the other hand is contemplating whether to organize presidential primaries to elect a candidate to lead the party in 2012 or concentrate on increasing their seats in Parliament.Whiles some members of the party are advocating for early primaries in conformity with the party’s constitution, others insist the primaries to elect a flag bearer should be organised deep into next year. But the Chairman of the CPP, Samia Nkrumah has hinted the party would elect a flagbearer in March 2012.Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Richmond Kilson, enraged by the conduct of the two Nkrumaist parties said, “the PNC and CPP are jokers”.He blamed them (PNC-CPP)of making the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) the dominant parties in the country due to their abysmal performance during elections.Commenting on the CPP brouhaha, he said the indecision of the CPP leadership is very unfortunate at a time the party wants to emerge as a third force and break the monopoly of the NDC and NPP in Ghanaian politics.Richmond Kilson questioned the rationale behind the decision to hold a late presidential primaries in the wake of a crucial election next year.Richmond Kilson observed that the repercussions of the position taken by the CPP National Executives to hold a late presidential primaries would be a woeful performance in the 2012 polls. He advised the PNC and CPP to emulate the NDC and NPP who value internal democracy and also seek the interest of their party first than their parochial interests.
