The Central Committee of Convention People's Party (CPP) has approved a programme to prepare the Party for its third National Delegates Congress scheduled for August 31-September 1, this year.
The decision was taken at its meeting held in Accra on Friday, June 15.
Professor Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary of the Party in a letter to CPP Regional Steering Committees on the decision said ward and constituency elections were to be organised from June 15 to the first week in July.
Regional elections are between mid-July to July 31; National Executive Council Meeting would be held in mid August and opening of nominations for Presidential aspirants and National Executive Officers for the Party would be held from July 16 to August 6.
The letter said vetting of Presidential Aspirants and National Executive Officers would be held from August 10 to 14 and the congress would be held from August 31 to September 1.
It said constituency steering committees with the support of regional steering committees were to supervise the branch (ward or electoral area) elections.
The letter said constituency conferences must follow after all the branches had been duly organised and the list of members attending the branch general meeting and constituency conferences compiled.
It said the national secretariat would supervise a regional conference to elect regional officers after all the constituencies officers had been elected.
The letter said election of constituency and regional officers must be supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission who must also sign the list of elected officers.
It said photographs of delegates to the regional conference must be taken and the records sent to the national secretariat to facilitate the drawing up of the congress register.
The letter said, "a support group of the central committee would assist the regions."
