CYDEO, a leading software development company, has announced a pioneering collaboration with prominent Ghanaian universities to pilot their innovative Library Management System (LMS), Library CT.
This cutting-edge technology, designed to revolutionize library operations, will undergo extensive testing at the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast to ensure it meets the diverse needs of academic environments across the continent.
The Library CT software allows for easy management of user information and sophisticated book categorization, including genres like Drama, Fantasy, and Humor. It also supports critical functions such as loan tracking and inventory management, promising to elevate the library experience for users and librarians alike.
Mr. Kwame Antwi, a librarian at the University of Ghana, commented on the system's impact. "Library CT has introduced a level of sophistication in how we handle book lending and returns, which is vital for our academic community. The intuitive design and robust functionality make it an invaluable tool for us.
Given the system's success during the pilot phase, we are optimistic about entering into a commercialized agreement with CYdeo to extend its benefits across more departments and possibly other institutions. This expansion could revolutionize library management throughout the region, setting a new standard for academic and public libraries alike".
Mrs. Abena Serwaa, Chief Librarian at the University of Cape Coast, also praised the system. "The pilot test of Library CT at our university has shown promising results. Its user-friendly interface and efficient management tools have significantly improved our operational capabilities," she remarked. This is a game changer to our over 15,000 student population and over 10,000 distance learning students who could borrow e-versions of books from the comfort of their homes.
Sabrina Gulmatova, the lead tester for the project at CYDEO, who engineered the development and testing of Library CT added. "Our aim was to create a seamless and user-friendly experience for libraries, simplifying how they manage and circulate various library materials, Africa was our top destination because of the youthful population age bracket who are mostly hungry for technology” said Gulmatova. "The system is equipped with advanced book management functions and robust search features, enhancing the overall efficiency of library operations."
CYDEO's CEO- Kuzzat Altay, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. "Working with such esteemed institutions like the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast is a privilege. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to providing innovative solutions that cater to the specific needs of the educational sector," said Kofi.
The pilot test of Library CT aims to refine the system based on real-world feedback and usage data from these academic institutions, ensuring that it can effectively support libraries of varying sizes and needs.
This initiative is part of CYDEO's broader strategy to expand its educational technology offerings across Africa and beyond.
