The Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, has commended President John Mahama for introducing a code of conduct for all his appointees.
He described it as a bold testament to his unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption.
Delivering the Yaa Naa’s message on Friday, June 13, during a courtesy call on the President, Dr Jacob Mahama, said the directive sets a strong ethical tone for governance and reinforces the need for integrity and patriotism in public service.
"Introduction of the Code of Conduct to your appointees is another landmark achievement that stands for a new standard for transparency and accountability in our nation's governance," he told the president.
"You have taken a crucial step towards restoring public trust and ensuring that those who serve in your government do so with integrity, professionalism, and deep commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians," he added.
According to the chief, the move by President Mahama shows his commitment to the fight against corruption.
The code, which President Mahama issued shortly after setting up his cabinet, outlines strict standards of behaviour expected from ministers, deputy ministers, and other public officials.
It includes provisions on avoiding conflicts of interest, refraining from using public office for personal gain, and adhering to high moral and ethical standards.
Government appointees have signed a pledge to uphold the code, with clear sanctions for violations, an approach widely praised as a proactive step toward restoring trust in governance and deepening democratic accountability.
