Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has praised significant curricular and practical advancements at the Police Training School under the leadership of Dr George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police.
Speaking at the Graduation Ceremony of Police Academy Course 53 in Accra, he highlighted the extensive infrastructural development and the expansion of class sizes that have enhanced the overall environment of the Ghana Police Service.
Dr Bawumia noted that the constant pursuit of excellence by Dr Dampare and his management team has led to transformative changes at the Police Academy.
He commended the ambitious efforts of the Police Administration, supported by the government and his personal involvement, which have improved the academy's facilities, creating a more attractive and effective training environment.
“This is so beautiful,” he stated, reflecting on the improvements made.
The Vice President emphasised that the recent increase in class sizes has provided greater opportunities for service personnel, with the current class of 430 officers being the largest in the history of the Ghana Police Service.
He expressed pride in the ongoing reforms that have made the Police Service more appealing in recent years, marking a shift toward excellence in the institution.
Dr Bawumia concluded by celebrating the achievements of Dr Dampare, who he described as a reformer dedicated to making the Ghana Police Service a benchmark for excellence not only in Africa but beyond.
He acknowledged the historical significance of the graduating class, which includes 305 males and 125 females, representing the highest intake of cadet officers since the academy's inception, surpassing the previous record of 344 from Cadet Course 52.
