Leicester City's Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is facing four months on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old injured his left ankle in the Foxes' 1-1 draw with West Ham at the King Power Stadium last Saturday, making a last-ditch tackle to stop a Hammers' attack.
And Leicester manager Claude Puel has revealed he has undergone surgery on it.
"Daniel has had surgery. It was a success, but he will not be available for four months," said Puel.
"I was with him after the game, he sacrificed himself for the team. It was fantastic, but we lost Daniel."
The injury rules him out of the Black Stars crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia this month.
Amartey had established himself as City's first choice right-back of late. After the match against West Ham manager, Claude Puel praised the defender for his attitude.
He has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season.
