The National Accreditation Board (NAB) has cleared Data Link Institute to admit new students for 2015/2016 academic year.

The college had been barred by the Accreditation Board from admitting students in April this year. According the NAB Data Link’s campuses failed to meet some of its key requirements.

However, according to Data Link since the ban was placed on the school, rigorous efforts have been made to upgrade to school.

“Since the ban was imposed series of communications have ensued between our institution and NAB. We have been able to address the various issues that prompted the ban. We have also given a face lift to the compound at the campus creating more conducive teaching and learning environment,” Mr Sarfo Ntim, a board member of the institute disclosed at a press briefing.

Data Link Institute, according to Mr Ntim, is currently putting up an ultramodern seven-storey building at Community 1 and a six-storey hostel at Community 6 all in Tema as part of efforts to further boost the institute’s infrastructure.

The two projects are estimated to cost over $10 million and could be completed within by 2016, according to the institute.

“With these measures in place we wish to inform our cherished stakeholders that there is nothing to be anxious about. As we are now scheduled to admit fresh students to the 2015/2016 academic year,” Mr Ntim said.

The college had been suffering a drop in student numbers following NAB’s action in April.

Mr Ernest Ansah, Founder of the institute revealed that the ban caused more than a 40% drop in existing student numbers, while new students were reluctant to apply.

He explains that although programmes run by the school were not part of NAB’s concerns students become doubtful about the school’s credibility."

But Ansah says there is no cause for alarm.

He said students who apply for this academic year would be given a 50% cut in tuition fees.

The Institute says its Maters programme with Northampton University in the UK is also on course and has invited graduates to apply.
