Ms Evelyn Ofosu-Darko, Vice President of Databank in-charge of Asset Management, has advised students in tertiary institutions to manage their finances properly to become independent to complete their education.She gave the advice at a forum on the attainment of financial independence organised by Databank for students of the Takoradi Polytechnic at Takoradi at the weekend.Ms Ofosu-Darko urged students to be careful about their expenditure to enable them save money for the future.They should also manage their time and affairs properly to develop the ability to run their businesses efficiently in future, she said.Students should not think of what the government would do for them when they leave school but rather think of what they could do for themselves, Ms Ofosu-Darko stated.Mr Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh, Head of the Research and Information Unit of the Bank, said financial independence meant the ability to adequately cater for one’s basic needs without recourse to a third party.He said discipline, patience and hard work were the fundamental pillars of attaining financial independence, which would give them the freedom to make choices.Source: GNA
