Mr Paul Raymond Kwofie, the defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Prestea-Huni Valley Constituency in the Western Region has predicted that, this year’s general elections belonged to the NDC.
“This year’s elections belong to the NDC but that will materialize only when the party faithful get more people to register and vote for the party on the day of elections.”
Mr Kwofie urged the supporters of the party to take full advantage of the registration exercise to ensure that they acquired the “passport” to vote in the December 7 elections to bring the party back to power.
He appealed to them not to be complacent when the voters’ register was re-opened for eligible voters to check their names.
Mr Kwofie, who is also the Chairman of the Communication Department of the party at the Obuasi Constituency, charged polling station agents to be extra vigilant on the day of voting to “nib any rigging attempt in the bud.”
He said the party was blessed with visionary leadership in the duo of Professor John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama and that, what was left was for all party activists and sympathizers to join hands in giving the needed support that would bring back the party to power.
“The party has got two good leaders whose campaigns are based on issues and not insults. Two leaders who are competent, intelligent and knowledgeable in contemporary politics”, he said.
Mr Kwofie said gone were the days when politicians relied on campaigns of lies, slandering and negative tricks to win elections, stressing “this time Ghanaians are wide awake and they know the real socio-economic conditions in the country and so nobody can take them for granted in the name of politics.”
He appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind the party’s flag-bearer, his running mate and the parliamentary candidates so that “we can achieve the new hope and new Ghana devoid of armed robbery, drug trafficking, high utility tariffs, harsh living conditions and what have you.”
