The ongoing debate for a Union Government for Africa is expected to go deep into the evening to give every country the chance to give a brief presentation on the proposed unity.
A circulation issued to the media on Tuesday stated that the Chairman of the African Union, President Kufuor, would hold a joint press conference with the AU Commission head Alpha Oumar Konare on Wednesday morning to announce the outcome of the two-day closed-door meeting.
Southern and East African leaders have rejected plans to set up a pan-African government, as suggested by Libya's head of state Col Muammar Gaddafi.
Uganda's Yoweri Museveni said he backed economic integration but said Africa was too diverse for one government, reported the BBC.
"Politically we should only integrate with people who are either similar or compatible with us," he said, according to Uganda's state-owned media.
Senegal, however, backed the plans and said a breakaway group could be formed.
Joy News’ Kwame Gyan said most of the countries are towing the gradualist approach to a Union Government.
Currently the heads of states are locked up in the debate and the outcome is expected tomorrow.
