A human rights lawyer is berating the Attorney General's Department for the delays in prosecuting criminal offences.
Francis Xavier-Sosu says the situation becomes even worse when a police officer is believed to have committed the crime.
According to him, dozens of cases have grown cold only because the Attorney General's department has been inept.
He was commenting on a two-year-old murder case in Asylum Down in which two people were shot dead by the owner of a drinking bar.
Sadam Abdulai, 21, was shot dead on a motorbike outside a drinking spot at Asylum Down while William Kwadwo Sarpong, 33, was shot dead while he was inside drinking with a friend.
Contrary to early reports that the police exchanged gunfire with robbers resulting in the deaths, police investigations say both persons were shot and killed by Akoto Osei Appiah, the owner of the drinking spot.
Two years after the incident, the accused person is yet to be prosecuted.
The families of the two men are accusing the police and Attorney General’s Department of allowing the suspect to walk free.
Xavier-Sosu told Joy News' Editor Dzifa Bampoh it has become so difficult to prosecute cases involving police men.
"We need to hold the AG's department responsible for the delays... If the AG is acting swiftly on these cases, we won't be having this discussion," he said.
