Desailly was not treated fairly-Mike Gizo

Former Minister of Tourism Mike Gizo has expressed shock at the cold treatment given to Marcel Desaily by Ghana Football Association officials in his quest to become the next coach of the black stars. Mr. Gizo said Marcel was not treated fairly by the Football Association since they did not contact him after he expressed his interest for the job. Desailly only learnt from the media of his inclusion in the list of coaches shortlisted for the job. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show on Tuesday, Mr. Gizo stated that an individual does not necessarily need experience to become a coach. He stated that, “the football association has spent too much time on appointing Milovan’s successor” and believes the appointment of a new coach for the Black Stars is long overdue. Mike Gizo believes Desailly’s withdrawal from the job can discourage people who in the future may want to apply for the job. Meanwhile, a member of the eight-man Search Committee, George Afriyie has also expressed worry over Desailly’s withdrawal but says it is the former French football star's personal position and it must be respected as such. Desailly’s withdrawal has now reduced the list to three with Goran Stevanovic, Humberto Cuelho and Hebert Addo still in contention for the job. Story by Benedict Owusu/Asempa Sports/Ghana
