President John Evans Atta Mills has brought dignity to the presidency and has not created any scandal around himself, says a Deputy Minister of Information Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Mr Ablakwa added that the president has also lived up to expectation, working very quietly and competently to improve on the lives of the people.
Commenting on the president’s performance during a meeting with senior journalists and editors at the Castle on Monday, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said President Mills had no question mark about his moral uprightness.
He was speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Tuesday.
Touting the achievements of the Mills administration so far, Mr Ablakwa said the Ghanaian worker was better off now after most public sector workers were migrated onto the Single Spine Salary Structure.
He mentioned the expansion of electricity coverage which he said had
increased to 18 per cent- from the eleven per cent the NPP left it- a positive life expectancy rate, sustainable inflation and massive infrastructure, among others, as some successes government had chalked in three years.
Samuel Ablakwa also commented on the president’s position on the infamous Woyome saga, asking the public to appreciate Mills’ stance to wait for a full report on the matter before making further pronouncements.
On the construction of two universities in the Volta and Brong Ahafo regions, Mr Ablakwa said the fact that the president had cut sod did not mean work was going to start immediately but that it only meant that government was committed to building them.
But the Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who joined the discourse on telephone, questioned what occasioned the sod cutting if the government was not ready.
He said he was not impressed by the president’s response to some of the questions posed by the journalists.
Mr Kyei Mensah-Bonsu observed that what Mills touted as achievements – such as road construction - were things all governments had done since Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s era.
