Diouf says a tight defence is needed to complement Senegal's potent attack.Senegal captain, El Hadji Diouf, believes a tight defence is the key to his side's chances of winning their first Africa Cup of Nations. The Teranga Lions have conceded plenty of goals in recent friendlies, only to be saved by their potent attack."We need to have the English mentality of trying to keep clean sheets," the Bolton Wanderers star said."If we have a clean sheet, we will win games because we score two goals in every game," Diouf added.Senegal has played two friendlies this year, beating Benin 2-1 on Wednesday in the Burkinabe capital Ouagadougou where they are currently in training. On Saturday, the Teranga Lions defeated fellow finalists Namibia 3-1 although the Brave Warriors had a second strike surprisingly ruled out for offside.Senegal's porous defence has conceded seven goals in its last four games. However, the Teranga Lions have also knocked-in 13 goals in their last five matches, a statistic that has the 27-year-old feeling confident about the Lions' chances."I don't think we are too far from being like the team of 2002," he explained, referring to the squad which reached the World Cup quarter-finals that year."We just need to keep going and believe in ourselves”."I am not going to say we are going to win the Africa Cup of Nations this time because everybody wants to win - we just have to take it game by game."Senegal, who also reached the Nations Cup final in the 'annus mirabilis' of 2002, leave Burkina Faso for Ghana at the weekend. They open their Group D campaign against Tunisia on Wednesday 23rd January.SOURCE: BBC
