It could be possible to fly directly to and from Canada soon. Moves are being advanced to get some Canadian airlines fly into Ghana by the end of this year.
This was disclosed to Joy Business by the Chief Planning Officer at the Ministry of Transport, Twumasi Ankrah Selby. According to him, the airlines will however begin operations through a partnering other American airlines.
“We met the Canadians at the Global Conference on Service Agreement where we established the air agreement which enables airlines to fly to other countries. They were willing to consider their carriers flying to Accra but for a start, they wanted a co-sharing with American carriers like Delta and United Airlines” he said.
So we were able to sign an Memorandum Of Understanding and looking forward to signing a document which would conclude the agreement at the next conference in Saudi Arabia this year. They have now shown an indication that they need to tap into our market” he added.
