Our attention has been drawn to a publication on Ghanaweb Wednesday alleging the arrest of a “Top NDC Man” for car theft.
The publication quotes Myjoyoyonline.com and Joy FM variously as the source of the story.
Our checks have established that the publication originated from the Daily Searchlight newspaper of Tuesday, 27 April 2010 and has nothing whatsoever to do with Joy FM or Myjoyonline.com. Neither do the two media outlets appear in the original story by the Daily Searchlight, whose contents were correctly and properly reposted by other news portals. Myjoyonline never posted the said article on its pages.
Strangely and criminally, the publication on Ghanaweb had deliberately been doctored not only to create the impression, but also to establish that the story emanated from Joy FM and Myjoyonline.com, both of which are business units in the Multimedia Group.
While we are taking steps to seek redress at the National Media Commission, the Ghana Journalists Association, National Security and other appropriate fora, we are by this disclaimer assuring the general public that we have no hand in the said story.
