Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, Brong-Ahafo Regional Deputy Director of health services, on Wednesday warned against the use of stimulants for enhanced sexual drive.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, he said the use of stimulants, which had become a “normal phenomenon” especially among the youth, should be discouraged as the side effects were irreversible.
He explained the forceful expansion and contraction of the genitals destroyed the tissues, causing impotency in men.
“There could be an underlying problem with the malfunction of the genitals hence medical assistance must be sought instead of using stimulants”.
According to him, the use of drugs could ulcerate the vaginal area causing infections and cancer in women who inserted drugs into their private parts without medical supervision.
Dr. Tinkorang advised the general public to seek medical help and desist from using stimulants and drugs not prescribed by physicians. He emphasized the need for routine check ups to detect diseases and conditions in their early stages for treatment.
