The 23kilometre Dome-Kitase road is said to be progressing speedily and would be completed within 14 months.

This was disclosed by the construction company in charge of the project, First Sky Construction Limited during an inspection tour by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta and his team.

According to the Chairman of the First Sky Group, Eric Seddy Kutortse, the company is working assiduously to make sure that roads are completed within the scheduled time. 

Mr. Seddy Kutortse noted that it is necessary to have the construction done by the stipulated time to improve the economic activities of the area.

"First Sky Construction Limited is aware how important these roads are to the government and the people and so we will do everything humanly possible to make sure that the scheduled time for the completion is met" Mr. Kutortse pledged. 

He noted that the company is currently doing what they call the improvement of the vertical alignment of the road by cutting to formation. Almost 25,000 cutting will be done, which will make the project 30% done. He added that by the close of the month, the entire road will be cut into formation. 

Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse noted that the construction of the U-drain and the culverts are on course with only eight drains left to be constructed.

He said all land clearing is 95% completed while the filling of formation and excavation and cut to formation are 15 and 16 percent complete respectively. 

He noted that scarification and formation is 16% complete, 3 percent of 600*600 mm U -drains has also been completed with 41% of pipe culverts also done. 

The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta commended the First Sky Group for good work done so far though in a short time. 

The $35million project is being funded by the Government of Ghana and the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development (KFAED).

It comprises the construction of a 16.3km two-lane single carriageway with asphalt concrete surfacing, the provision of 2.8km asphaltic concrete surfacing dual carriageway arterial with auxiliary lanes on both sides for drop off and pick up and also the provision of a one km two lane single carriageway for Ashesi University which also has asphaltic concrete surfacing. 

The road, when completed, will provide an alternative route for motorists from Aburi and Accra
