The CEO of Donewell Insurance, Seth Kobla Aklasi, has addressed customer concerns regarding reports suggesting that the company has undergone a rebranding exercise.
In an interview with Happy FM, he clarified that Donewell Insurance has not rebranded.
Instead, the confusion stems from the rebranding of a separate entity, Donewell Life Assurance, which has distinct ownership and management.
Mr. Aklasi provided historical context to differentiate between the two entities.
From its inception in 1993 until 2007/08, Donewell Insurance operated as a single company offering both life and non-life insurance services.
However, the Insurance Act of 2006 (Act 724) mandated the separation of long-term and short-term insurance businesses, prompting the formation of two independent entities.
Donewell Insurance retained the general insurance portfolio, offering policies such as house, motor, fire, and accident insurance.
Meanwhile, Donewell Life Assurance assumed responsibility for life insurance products.
“The distinction I want to emphasise is that Donewell Insurance deals with short-term, general insurance policies. Donewell Life Assurance, which was created as a separate entity, handles long-term insurance policies,” Mr Aklasi explained.
In 2015/2016, a change in Donewell Life Assurance’s shareholding structure led to a divergence in its ownership and management from Donewell Insurance.
This separation resulted in different strategic approaches and operational independence between the two companies.
While Donewell Life Assurance has recently rebranded, Mr Aklasi stressed that this change is entirely unrelated to Donewell Insurance.
“Our operations remain unaffected, and we continue to provide the general insurance services our clients have trusted since 1993,” he assured.
Donewell Insurance remains committed to delivering innovative and reliable services, offering a diverse range of products such as fire and allied perils, motor insurance, contractors’ all-risk policies, and goods-in-transit insurance.
“If you have insured your house, factory, or travel policy, you are working with Donewell Insurance Ltd. Our name and legacy remain unchanged,” Mr Aklasi reaffirmed.
The company, a Limited Liability entity owned by the Methodist Church, institutional investors, trade associations, and other individuals, has consistently upheld professionalism in underwriting and marketing.
