Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Abubakari, Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged the people not to judge the NPP government by the lies and wild propaganda being perpetrated against it by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its agents.
"Match our achievements during our eight years in office against theirs and you can have an informed decision on which party to vote for", he stated.
"If the National Democratic Congress when it was in power had shown this type of zeal and commitment to the development of the country that the NPP had been exhibiting, poverty levels in our region in particular would have by now declined by more than 70 per cent".
Alhaji Abubakari said this when he inaugurated youth and women's wings of the Party at Manwe in the Wa East District of the region.
He mentioned newly constructed link roads in the area, new school buildings, capitation grant that has swelled up enrolment figures in schools, relative stable prices of goods like textiles and efforts to give them electricity, as clear testimonies of the government's good work and a justification to vote for it in the coming elections.
He told the people of Manwe to compare the social amenities that they now enjoyed to the time between 1992 and 2004 when their own son was the NDC Member of Parliament for the constituency to see whether the NPP government had not done great things for them to deserve their support.
Mr. Zakaria Mohhamed Chikay, a youth activist of the party said Nana Akufo-Addo had the right political clout and experience to succeed where our past Presidents had failed and was therefore an obvious choice of the electorate in the next elections
"Nana will win the election and it is for all of you to support him and be part of this victory", he said.
Madam Anatu Ibrahim, a leading member of the region's women's wing of the party said life under NPP was far better for women than under the NDC, citing the affordable prices of wax prints and women's wear as examples.
"There are better days ahead if we women give our votes to the NPP", she advised.
Mr Kuobunaa Adamu, a Party elder in the community said although political parties were proliferating in the area they would do their best to ensure that the NPP wins massively.
