The Member of Parliament for Jomoro constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has achieved a significant academic milestone by obtaining two master’s degrees from two prestigious institutions.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey’s first degree is an MSc/MPhil in Energy and Sustainable Management from Universidad Católica de Murcia (UCAM), Spain and Regent University, Ghana. Her specialisation was on “revenue losses due to power system failure on distribution feeder lines”.
UCAM, a private university with over 20 years of history, is renowned for its academic excellence and ranks 10th in Europe for Quality of Education, as highlighted in the Times Higher Education University Teaching Rankings 2019.
The Energy and Sustainable Management programme at UCAM equips participants with critical skills to navigate the complexities of the energy sector and champion sustainable development.
In addition to her degree from UCAM, Affo-Toffey has also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Accra Business School, Ghana.

This degree further strengthens her leadership acumen and strategic decision-making capabilities, ensuring that she is well-equipped to drive innovation and transformation in her constituency.
She already holds a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) from the Knutsford University College.
Speaking on her achievements, Dorcas Affo-Toffey expressed gratitude to her family, team, and constituents for their encouragement throughout her academic journey. “These degrees represent my unwavering commitment to acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to champion impactful initiatives for the Jomoro Constituency,” she remarked.
On December, 7th, 2024, the constituents of Jomoro retained her as their member of parliament for a renewed mandate for the next parliament which is scheduled to be sworn in on January 7, 2025.
Her dual academic achievements are expected to significantly enhance her ability to spearhead initiatives in energy sustainability, economic growth, and public administration.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey, who has served as MP for Jomoro since 2021, and is a Deputy Ranking Member on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee of Parliament, remains an inspiration to young leaders and women in Ghana and beyond, proving that with determination and perseverance, one can excel in both leadership and academia.
