Kevin Prince Boateng limped off the pitch and was later red-carded in AC Milan’s 3-2 win over Roma on Saturday.
The Ghana midfielder was substituted in the 65th minute after suffering a not too clear injury but was seconds later red-carded for a suspected verbal assault on the fourth referee as he made his way to the bench.
His expulsion which came at a time Milan was leading 2-1 however did not numerically affect the Rosseneri as he had already been substituted by Urby Emanuelson.
The shocked 24-year-old raised his arms in despair and continued remonstrating as he made his way from the substitute’s bench to the dressing room.
The visitors then jumped into a 3-1 lead before Roma launched a late attacking surge after Bojan Krkc had given them hope by getting a goal back.
Roma’s intense late attack failed to yield any dividend as Milan held of their charge to take all three points but had their manager Maximiliano Allegri also sent off at the depth.
