Schalke 04 finished runners-up to Bayern Munich last season and after a torrid start to the season, have finally established some positive consistency that catapulted them from relegation candidates to 10th in the league. Hamburg on the other hand slumped to ninth on the back of four defeats in their last six matches of the calendar year. Hamburg will hope to stop the rot that threatens to destroy their season by defeating Schalke 04 who are keen to continue from where they left off before Christmas.
