The former General Secretary of the CPP, Prof Nii Noi Dowuona has called for a cease-fire among leading members of the party.According to him, the unending tale of accusations after each election only devastated the party’s campaign machinery.Gurus of the CPP have been at each others throats after an abysmal performance in the just ended December, 2008 elections.Failed Presidential candidate of the party Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosah on Tuesday emerged from his self detention and landed a scathing attack on the leadership of the CPP.He told Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the leadership, headed by Nady Nylander have been inept, a situation which culminated into the poor performance of the party. He referred to their election by congress as “cataclysmic”- self destructing, and called for new officers to be elected. But Mr. Nylander has objected to his queries. He said the party’s leadership made several overtures to Prof Akosah to assist during the campaign but was turned down.He described the assertions of Prof. Akosah as destructive and called on him as well as other members of the party to come on board to re-build the party. In a separate interview with Joy News, Prof. Dowuona advocated for a forum to allow for all members to voice their concerns.Even though it was within Prof. Akosah’s right to comment on issues, Prof Dowuona said continued internal bickering will not be in the interest of the party. He called on all to suspend personal ambitions to be presidential candidates in 2012 and help to build the party from its grass roots. He asserted further resignations as suggested by Prof Akosah would only lead to disenchantment within the party.
