New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant and Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has donated critical navigation equipment to the Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC) at the Adawso ferry station, following a distress call from station officials about safety challenges on the lake.
The donation was presented at a brief ceremony aboard the pontoon that ferries passengers and goods between Adawso in the Kwahu West District and Ekye in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.
Dr Acheampong expressed concern about the absence of such essential equipment, describing the situation as “scary and alarming.”

“When Station Officer Isaac Souzey came to me with this request, I was alarmed. He described a terrible situation that posed great danger to human lives and goods crossing the Volta River. I knew I had to respond. Today, I am here to honour a promise I made to the workers and all who rely on this pontoon,” he said.
He urged the pontoon’s Captain, Osafo Kennedy, the Station Officer, and all VLTC staff to maintain the equipment properly to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Officials of the VLTC welcomed the intervention, describing it as a timely and practical solution that would significantly improve navigation and reduce risks on the lake.
