Dr Deborah Cubagee, President of ‘Women in Sports Association of Ghana’ (WOSPAG) has lashed out at Benson Tongo Baba, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee for ‘hijacking’ the Olympic body.
The President of the Women’s sports body, who doubles as the Second Vice President of the GOC, alleged that B. T. Baba and his First Vice President, Frank Appiah have hijacked the Committee for their personal gains to the detriment of Ghana sports.
After working together with Baba for over 12-years at the GOC, Dr Cubagee expressed surprise for the reasons behind the incumbent’s decision to further hold unto the leadership of the Association by coming up with electoral procedures that will disqualify aspirants for the Congress scheduled for October 29 in Kumasi.
“Why do you want to hijack Ghana Sports? The nation has suffered a lot and something must be done to stop him,” Dr Cubagee said at a press conference on Wednesday organised by the Presidents of the various National Sports Associations.
“The system has been in place for 12-years. One person cannot allow Ghana sports to suffer to that extent.” She added.
Dr Cubagee laughed off summons made to her by the outgoing Executive Board for her to appear before it for her been absent from meetings.
“They have asked me to appear before the Disciplinary Committee for not attending meetings. Meanwhile, I have not been invited to the said meetings.
“I will not appear before any Committee,” Dr Cubagee noted.
The President of WOSPAG also challenged the Presidents of the various national sports association to stand up for the good of Ghana sports.
