The Hohoe District Police on Wednesday morning recovered the battered body of a 40 year-old driver, Idrissu Moro, victim of a hit-and-run car accident at Likpe-Nkwanta on the Hohoe-Likpe-Bakua road.
Daniel Ablodey, acting District Police Commander said the mutilated body of the deceased who hails from Likpe-Mate was found in the middle of the road in a prone position with its intestines spewing out, when the Police went to the accident scene.
He said the accident occurred between 0430-5000 hours and it is believed that the hit-and-run car was a taxicab.
Mr Ablodey said the car dragged the body for about 50 metres resulting in a badly smashed head and open wounds all over the body.
The body has since been deposited at the Hohoe District hospital for autopsy.
Mr Ablodey said Police is investigating the case and appealed to members of the public, garages and mechanics to be on the lookout and report any such suspicious persons to the Police.Source: GNA
