A driver’s mate on board a container truck died at Kwamo in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality when the truck ran into another truck loaded with salt and parked in the middle of the road.
Briefing GNA on the accident at Ejisu, Assistant Superintendent of Police S. K. Dodara, Officer in-Charge of Ejisu Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU), said the day before the incident, the articulated truck developed a fault on reaching Kwamo from Accra and was parked in the middle of the road to enable mechanics work on it.
The driver had placed a warning sign in the middle of the road to alert passing vehicles.
He said at about 0400 hours on Thursday, the container truck loaded with fish from Accra heading towards Kumasi rammed into it resulting in the death of the mate.
The driver is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Their identities are not yet known and police suspect the driver might have been sleeping when he ran into the truck.
