A 25-year old beautician wants criminal charges leveled against the male friends whom she alleges drugged and raped her at a birthday party.
Amanda [not her real name] said she woke up in the bedroom of a male friend one morning in November feeling “somebody has done something to me”.
All she remembered was drinking at the birthday party the night before.
“I asked the guy why am I here and he said I got boozed and they decided to put me in the room for safety reasons”, she told Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah.
She suspected malaria after feeling sick, weak and pale but tests showed she was two-months pregnant.
“I made her [nurse] check the date the months, the weeks, and it corresponds to the day that they had the party”, she narrated.
Her male friends confirmed that they had sex with her while she was unconscious leaving the beautician shocked and distraught at the revelation.
Her ‘friends’ have challenged her to do her worst. She has not been able to meet the suspects despite attempts to arrange a meeting.
“So what? If we did something to you so what?” the male friend reportedly told her on the phone and then he talks naughty to me.
He no longer picks her calls, she continued.
Amanda believes that the suspects drugged her knowing that as a well-behaved girl she would not have given in to their sexual advances.
In disbelief, she told Afreh-Nuamah “If it wasn’t [for] what they did to me I would have never stooped low for anybody. They know me to [not] be that type, that was the reason why they planned all this thing. I am not that type of girl.”
Facing the next months with a pregnancy she did not plan or foresee, Amanda said she is “very confused.”
Pained sighs punctuated her story as she grappled with the implications of motherhood, single parenting and a father(s) on the run.
