Actor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has shared a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr. who passed away just days before his swearing-in as a Member of Parliament.
The actor, who recently defeated the incumbent MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the recently-held elections, shared an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter) that just moments after a conversation with his father, he received a call informing him that his father had stopped responding.
The 75-year-old father, who Dumelo described as not just a parent but his "best friend" and "number 1 cheerleader," had spent the previous day speaking with his son about a range of topics including politics, farming, business, and even some gossip.

Rushing to the hospital, Dumelo was devastated to learn that his father had passed away. In his tribute, the MP-elect expressed deep gratitude to his father for his guidance, support, and love throughout his life.
"Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheerleader and thanks for everything you did for me," Dumelo wrote.
He also extended a heartfelt message to his mother who died in August last year, saying, “Say hi to mum for us all… we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace," he stated
The loss comes at a critical time as Dumelo is set to be sworn in as an MP in the coming days, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his political career.
