Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), has promised to provide an exemplary and good leadership, if given the nod by the constituents to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Amansie East Constituency in the Ashanti Region. Mr Osei-Owusu made the promise at the launch of his campaign in Accra on Friday for the Amansie East constituency primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to elect a candidate to contest the general elections in December on the ticket of the party. The DVLA boss said he was overwhelmed by the attendance, with majority of the people being constituents and well wishers from the Accra-Tema Metropolis. He told them that it was only through a united front that they would be able to chart a new course for the area’s development. He said his priority areas are Education, Commerce and Local Governance, and promised to reverse the falling standards in education, empower the people to engage in brisk economic ventures. “I would see to the proper planning of local government activities to ensure the judicious utilization of resources”, he said. Mr Osei-Owusu, who is also the founder of the Osei-Wusu Foundation for Indigenous Business Development, a micro financing service, said when given the mandate, he would ensure that they benefited from financial assistance and engage them in socio-economic ventures. He said he would make available a package under the Foundation’s micro credit facility, from which constituents, who are unable to raise the premium for the National Health Insurance Scheme, to access loans to enjoy the scheme. Mr Dan Botwe, former General Secretary of the NPP, who launched the campaign, said he had every confidence in the parliamentary aspirant, and urged his constituents to give him the chance to serve them. “I know Mr Osei-Owusu, I have worked with him and he is a good material.
