The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DVVSU) on Wednesday asked Ghanaians to beware of fraudsters who exploited people on the pretext of assisting them to locate their missing relatives.
Police Inspector Irene Oppong, Greater Accra Regional Public Relations Officer of DVVSU told Ghana News Agency in Accra that the Unit had reports that some people have developed the habit of contacting complainants who advertised in the media in search of relatives to demand mobile phone credits for contacts and huge sums of money.
She therefore advised the public not to succumb to any such demands when contacted since they would eventually be deceived.
Inspector Oppong called on the public to note that the Police or DVVSU should be the first point of call in case of any complaint relating to the search of a relative.
