The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Serebour Quaicoe has dismissed circulating videos and images of ballot papers on social media as false, stating that the claims have been clarified by their officers.
He cited an example from Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region, where a rumour about 79 disputed ballots was raised.
After consulting the district officer, it was confirmed that the officer had also heard similar rumours. Further investigation revealed that the issue had been escalated to the regional commander.
Speaking to the press, Dr Quaicoe urged media personnel not to report on matters unless they have verified facts.
He also emphasized that information seen on social media should not be taken as accurate without further verification and proof.
Dr Quaicoe called on the media to conduct thorough research before disseminating news, to ensure the integrity of their reports.
