The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the power outages experienced in parts of Accra on Wednesday, May 1, to a rainstorm.
The heavy rains flooded some of the primary substations, rendering them ineffective and non-functional, leading to power outages, according to the ECG.
In response to the situation, the ECG has deployed its engineers and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to the affected sites to address the challenge and restore full power supply to the affected communities.

The company assured residents that efforts are underway to rectify the issue and minimize the inconvenience caused by the power disruptions.
“Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the interruption in service being experienced in parts of Accra is due to the rainstorm that hit the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, 1st May 2024."

It has thus urged consumers residing in the affected areas to remain patient while it works to resolve the issue.
“We wish to assure our cherished customers and all stakeholders of our commitment to ensuring a stable power supply, and apologise unreservedly for the effect of the outage on our daily lives," the statement concluded.
