In a progressive step to tackle billing inaccuracies, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has implemented a monthly meter reading initiative for customers in the Volta and Oti Regions.
This move, aimed at ensuring billing reflects actual electricity consumption, comes in response to widespread concerns about the accuracy of ECG’s previous quarterly billing system.
At the forefront of this initiative, the ECG’s Regional Commercial Manager, Solomon Adjiku, has been meeting with meter readers across various districts to reinforce the critical role of accurate monthly readings.
During these engagements, he highlighted the importance of precise meter readings in building transparency and trust between ECG and its customers.
“Shifting to monthly readings will not only minimize billing errors but also foster improved communication with our customers,” Mr Adjiku stated.
“We want customers to feel assured that their bills reflect only the electricity they have used.”
The transition from quarterly to monthly meter readings in the Volta and Oti Regions is part of a larger ECG strategy focused on enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
With more frequent meter readings, the company aims to reduce disputes arising from estimated charges and provide clearer, more accurate billing, reflecting real-time energy use.
Mr Adjiku urged meter readers to be meticulous, adhering strictly to company procedures to ensure the highest standards of accuracy.
“Our dedication to accuracy directly affects our customer’s experience and confidence in our services,” he added, calling on the team to take pride in their role as an essential link between ECG and the community.
Customers in the Volta and Oti Regions are expected to benefit significantly from this initiative as ECG rolls out the new reading schedule, fostering greater transparency and efficiency.
This monthly approach marks a milestone in ECG’s efforts to address billing concerns, signaling a commitment to continually evolving its services in response to customer needs.
ECG also encourages all customers to ensure timely payment of their electricity bills, a crucial aspect that enables the company to further improve and expand its services.
As ECG continues to innovate and adapt, it looks forward to strengthening its relationship with customers in the Volta and Oti Regions, paving the way for a more transparent, reliable billing experience.
