ECOBANK has emerged as the 2014 Bank of the Year at the Ghana Banking Awards held last Saturday night in Accra.
ECOBANK beat competition from 27 other local and international banks to pick the top most award at a ceremony held at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
According to organizers of the Awards Corporate Initiative Ghana, a careful assessment was done on the published financial results of 28 banks.
The views from more than 6000 corporate and retail clients also informed the choice.
Corporate Initiative Ghana also explained that ECOBANK took the topmost award because they won in categories that had a strong weighting like Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance.
Executive Director and Head of Domestic Banking at ECOBANK Ghana, George Mensah Asante attributes the win to customer service and product innovation.
Other big winners for the night, were Royal bank which was adjudged best bank in five categories - Customer Care, Advisory Services, Growing bank and Retail Finance and Long-term Mortgage Finance.
