The ECOWAS Commission has in a statement announced a raft of stringent measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in member states.
Key among these measures is a directive to its staff to self-isolate if they have recently returned from a coronavirus-hit country.
“All staff who have been on mission to any high burden country or country with local transmission within two weeks of returning to their duty station should go into self-isolation for 14 calendar days, counting day 1 as the day the staff left the hotspot country. Transit at the airport does not apply,” the Commission explained.
Also, all meetings that involve participants travelling on international flights have been suspended.
