The National Teaching Council (NTC) has clarified that the upcoming Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) will proceed as planned, despite recent statements made by the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.
The Education Minister, during a stakeholder engagement on July 15, called for the conclusion of the final teacher licensure examination by August 30, urging all relevant bodies to collaborate with the NTC Registrar to set a firm date and ensure the process is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Following the Minister’s remarks, concerns arose among prospective candidates regarding possible changes to the examination schedule.
However, in a notice shared on its official Facebook page, the NTC has moved to allay those fears.
“The Minister’s statement in this video does not in any way affect the upcoming GTLE scheduled for Friday to Sunday,” the Council stated.
The NTC further clarified that the current batch of candidates registered for the 2025 GTLE will take the examination as originally planned, and the new format of the licensure exams will only apply to those nearing the completion of their academic programmes in future cohorts.
“All 2025 registered candidates should take note and adhere to this notice,” the statement emphasised.
The Council’s reassurance aims to dispel any confusion and maintain confidence in the licensure process, ensuring that registered candidates can adequately prepare for their exams without uncertainty.
