The disqualified New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant, Nkrabeah Effah Darteh is expected to announce his withdrawal from the presidential race Friday morning at a news conference here in Accra.
Effah Darteh had earlier hinted he was heading to the court to contest his party's decision to disqualify him.
The National Executive Council had upheld the vetting committee's decision to bar Effah Darteh from contesting the presidential ticket of the NPP on the grounds that he attempted to overthrow Limann's government in 1981.
Since the party's decision Effah Darteh has had to deal with pressure from party members not to go to court. After meeting with some party elders including Appiah Minkah, Effah Darteh is expected to announce a pull out from the race. His first scheduled meeting with journalists to declare his withdrawal was cancelled.
