The Assin Foso district magistrate’s court on Wednesday imposed a total fine of GH¢80.00 on eight persons for keeping their surroundings untidy.
Yaw Mensah, Kwame Amponsah, Mike Kojo Sakyi, Ama Afrah, Kwame Acquah, Madam Ataa, Akua Asieduah and Madam Yaa all from Assin Fosu, pleaded guilty to the charge and were each fined GH¢10.00 or in default go to jail for one month each.
Affia Odoom, who was in the dock with the eight convicts was cautioned and discharged for lack of evidence.
Prosecuting, Mr Charles Quainoo, Assin Foso District Environmental Officer told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that sometime in December 2007, environmental officers on routine duties arrested the accused persons for keeping their surroundings untidy and allowing the accumulation of offensive stagnant water in their premises.
