The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is taking on the Ghana Education Service (GES) for interdicting nine teachers of Ejisuman Senior High School for their alleged involvement in a sexual abuse scandal.

A fact-finding committee instituted by the GES in Ashanti Region recommended the interdiction of the teachers after some students alleged that the teachers forced them to perform several sexual acts.

 One female student said a teacher forced her to stroke his manhood.

The accused teachers have denied the allegations and are claiming that there is a deliberate attempt to defame them.

Head of Public Relations at the GES Cassandra Twum Ampofo says the teachers in question will appear before another disciplinary committee constituted by the Regional Education Directorate.

However, GNAT is questioning the basis for another probe.

"If you have conducted an investigation and you have found people to have flouted the regulations of the GES...you don't submit the people to another investigation," he said.

He said it was baffling that the investigation report has been sent to the GES headquarters in Accra. 

"What kind of interest has the GES headquarters [in the matter]?" he quizzed.
